The on-line tool supports self-evaluation and action planning for a number of focus areas which can be selected according to the relevant phase of education.

Once you have selected a focus area, you will be able to access an evaluation grid which, for a range of issues, sets out a continuum of development based on four stages:

• Focusing
• Developing
• Establishing
• Enhancing

For each issue best fit ‘Summary statements’ are provided for each stage of development.

Summary statements are accompanied by a number of ‘Evidence statements’, intended to help you either confirm or reconsider your initial judgements. They set out some elements of practice that might exemplify the different stages of development.

Moving on to ‘Next steps’ provides some suggested actions and available resources that will support your school in further enhancing your practice.
